This espresso maker came onto the scene in Italy in 1956, thanks to designer, Officine Faema. The
Faema Baby spec is: Weight: 1.3
KG and 30cm high to 50cm with arms raised.
It was made entirely of cast Aluminium including all parts, and a thiner walled Alloy 58mm basket/cylinder.
The price was around 5K Lira in old Europe currency = £128 today!
The
blue unit below is the
3rd Generation (v3.
3) from 1961 and was selling for 4900 lira, with the new Olive shaped alloy knobs, and alloy embosed/pressed logo.
The 1st & 2nd Generations had bakelite round knobs, and an adhesive logo label on the front. The weight was heavier at: 2.15KG, but with the same dimensions as the 3rd Gen versions!
