I was in Singapore, in early November 2019, and I can tell you that in Singapore, there were health rumours around then about folk falling ill with 'flu' type symptoms, so COVID was around in late 2019, before it was made public in January 2020!
It’s amazing to think we've survived 365 days in Lockdown so far, and boy, what a real test of endurance it's been; we all remember the long supermarket queues; being confined to our own living space; folks panic buying, and now Social Distancing, as well as Mask wearing in shops!
It really has shown how fragile folks minds became, and how people started reacting to seeing someone coming close to them; folks treated each other like they had leprosy, and neighbours were snitching on each other to Police if they saw them socializing or going out of their property once too often; the true colours of the few surfaced, and it wasn't, as the famous song said 'what a wonderful World'!
Hospital consultations for any kind of treatment were CANCELLED especially for those greatly in need of regular medication; in particular those suffering from Cancer and debilitating illnesses; dear folks died as a result of this shut down in vital Health services; Dentists were shut, so folk with tooth pain, abscesses, couldn't seek appropriate treatment, and the only option available to them was to have the tooth EXTRACTED at a local hospital; we all live each day on a 'wing and a prayer' that we wouldn't fall ill or were in pain, especially as local hospitals were a strong link tocatching COVID; if admitted!
NHS Pressure on the UK population to get Vaccinated from February 2021, is now in full swing; patients in high risk categories, who refused the vaccine, were regularly telephoned to pressure them into having the Vaccine without a thought to the individual health diagnosis, and possible complications from medication the patient already took on a daily basis; most remember the old saying, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
My wife; who has never been ill in decades, had the vaccine, and did develop 'flu like' symptoms, and joint aches, for just over 36hrs, and soon returned to normal health; thank God!
Let's remember those dear folk; the victims of COVID, and those who've lost loved ones to COVID, and from other treatable conditions but sadly lost their lives as their vital care was STOPPED! It's all so terribly sad; a special thanks to those NHS and Private Health care staff who've risked their own lives; some Health Care workers also died as a result of serving others, to treat and save others!
For those who live in rural and remote areas, especially Coastal and Private Estates, favoured well, as they don't have to encounter greater numbers of the public on a daily basis. Supermarket Home deliveries, were a God send to many, but the service was under severe pressure, and couldn't cope with the demand at times!
We all have to adapt to the way we approach life from hereon; this Pandemic experience has taught us all how fragile life can become, and how we need to open our eyes and minds to the precautions we have to take, daily!
We're not out of the woods yet, but here’s to a better Year ahead!
Take care, and stay safe!
